MFSD at the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice

🇱🇹 🇪🇺 The Valstybinis patentų biuras / State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania invited Pierfrancesco C. Fasano, our Scientific Director and Expert of the Unified Patent Court Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC), to a high-level meeting with institutions and organisations active in intellectual property.

⚖️ 📸 Held in Vilnius at the Lithuanian Minister of Justice, the meeting gathered:

• Indrė Kasiulaitė, Chair of the Lithuanian Chamber of the Mediation

• Vita Kiriliauskaitė, Director of the VPB;

• Asta Virbickiene, Head of the Appeal Division, VPB;

• Jurga Petniunaite, Chair of the Lithuanian Institute of Patent Attorneys;

• Edyta Demby-Siwek, Deputy Executive Director of the EUIPO - European Union Intellectual Property Office.

🗣️ 👥The discussion addressed:

🔹 the increasing relevance of mediation in IP disputes;

🔹 Lithuania’s positive experience in proposing mediation at early stages;

🔹 the openness of parties, representatives and patent attorneys to ADR;

🔹 the role of mandatory mediation models in Lithuania, Italy and Poland.

📌 📍Participants expressed a joint commitment to pursue further dialogue and inter-institutional cooperation across Europe, with the aim of raising awareness of the benefits and value that mediation brings to the resolution of intellectual property disputes.
