🇪🇺 MFSD at PMAC-UPC Milan Conference | 21 April 2026

The Milan Lawyers Bar Association and the Italian Patent and TradeMark Attorneys Institute have jointly promoted and organised, for Tuesday, 21 April 2026, from 14:30 to 18:00 in Milan, at the Aula Magna of the Courthouse, an in-person conference entitled: “The Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) of the Unified Patent Court (UPC)”.

The afternoon will be devoted to an in-depth examination, discussion, preparation and celebration of the launch and opening of the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC), the independent body annexed to the Unified Patent Court, whose Central Division includes, among its three seats, Milan.

The PMAC, with seats in Ljubljana and Lisbon, constitutes a sui generis institution within the European and international judicial landscape, by virtue of its distinctive architecture as an alternative dispute resolution body structurally integrated with a court: a permanent and dynamic interplay between supranational adjudication and consensual justice.

In addition to Aleš Zalar, Director of the PMAC, the distinguished panel of speakers—drawn from the judiciary, governmental institutions and the legal profession—will include our own Pierfrancesco C. Fasano, co-founder of MFSD, in his capacity as a member of the Expert Committee. He will address the topic of the PMAC Mediation Rules, to the drafting of which he has contributed, together with ten other European experts, including the development of the procedural framework, the selection criteria for mediators and arbitrators, and the fee structure.

This event represents a valuable opportunity for dialogue and for the development of cooperative frameworks between the Milan Central Division of the UPC, the PMAC, and the legal and intellectual property communities.

It will also serve as a moment of convergence for ADR practitioners from Italy and across Europe—an initiative to which MFSD is proud to have contributed.
